So called "science" reporting out of media like the Guardian always makes my skin crawl. Here's wikipedia on Ventner's Mycoplasma laboratorium. And in the wikipedia on Ventner himself I note he helped spur the Human Genome Project---by trying to create a closed-source, fee-for-access version for personal gain. Should that be as damning as it is?

Heh. Maybe not as damning as the fact that I cadged the link from Warren Ellis' blog... I get a lot of my science from sci-fi and comics people...
:)
Thanks, Robert!
I can't decide whether corporate or open-source genomics freak me out more. :) The people are an ass, but businesses have even greater ass potential.
